My neighbor Carlos swore by duct tape for plumbing leaks, said I was overthinking it
So last month I had this pinhole leak in a copper pipe under my kitchen sink, dripping right onto my bag of tortilla chips. I called my neighbor Carlos who's been fixing stuff around ABQ for like 30 years, and he told me to just wrap it in duct tape and call it a day. I thought he was crazy because every plumbing video I've watched says use epoxy or a pipe clamp. But I was desperate at 9pm on a Sunday, so I wrapped three layers of gorilla tape around that spot. Two weeks later, still bone dry under there. I even bumped the pipe while pulling out a cast iron skillet and the tape held. Now I'm wondering if Carlos is a genius or if I just got super lucky. Has anyone else had duct tape actually save them on a plumbing fix around here?
