Our big webinar push for a new firewall product totally bombed last month

We spent over $15k on targeted ads and email blasts for a live demo event. Only 47 people showed up from a list of 5,000 invites, and half left before the Q&A. I think the problem was we focused on flashy features instead of the specific compliance pain points our buyers actually have. Anyone else see a huge gap between what marketing pushes and what security teams really care about?

Vent: An old farmer in Nebraska told me I was overthinking a fuel line leak

I was out on a farm call near Grand Island last fall for a balky John Deere 8R. Found a weep at a fuel line fitting that had me ready to pull the whole manifold to replace a gasket. The owner, a guy who must have been 80, watched me for a minute, then just said, 'Boy, you got a tube of Permatex 2 in that truck?' I said yeah, and he told me to clean the threads, put a thin bead on, and torque it back down. Said he'd been doing that on that same tractor for twenty years. I was skeptical, but it worked. No leak. It wasn't the 'right' fix by the book, but it got him back in the field that afternoon. Ever have a customer hand you a fix that goes against everything you were taught, but it just works?

I was stacking my Jupiter shots wrong for months and didn't know it

I kept getting soft, blurry images from my backyard setup in Portland, even with good seeing. The issue hit me last Tuesday when I compared a single raw frame to my final stack and saw it had more detail. I was using too many frames and averaging out the sharpest moments. Anyone else run into this with planetary imaging? What's your cutoff for frame count?

I finally saw the same dog walker for a whole year and it's a different world now

There's this guy, maybe in his 60s, who walks a little brown terrier mix past my cleaning route every morning at 8:15. For the first few months, he'd just give a tight nod and keep his head down. I started saying 'good morning' anyway. After about six months, he started saying it back. Now, a full year later, he stops for a full minute to let the dog sniff around and asks how my day is going. Last week he even told me the dog's name is Benny. It's wild how a tiny bit of daily, friendly consistency can turn a stranger into a neighborhood fixture. Anyone else have a small, regular interaction that slowly became something more?
