Just realized my $800 bathroom tile job looked worse than the $300 one from 2021
Two summers ago I paid a guy in Albuquerque $300 to tile my guest bath floor and it came out flat and clean, so when I redid the master last week I hired a 'pro' outfit for $800 and ended up with lippage on half the seams and grout lines that wander like a dirt road. The cheap guy mixed his own thinset and back buttered every piece by hand, the expensive crew used spacers only and rushed out in 4 hours. Why do we assume the higher price tag means better work when my own kitchen floor proves the opposite?
