Shoutout to the crooked outlet in my 1950s Nob Hill kitchen that ate up 5 hours of my Saturday
I went to swap out an old outlet behind the counter and found the box set 3/4 inch too deep in the plaster, so the new outlet plate would not sit flush. I ended up cutting a new hole, patching with joint compound, and waiting through two dry times, which turned a 20 minute job into a 5 hour mess in my Nob Hill house. How do you all deal with these old plaster walls when the box is sunk too deep, do you shim it out or just cut and patch like I did?
