Trying to get a draped cowl neck to sit right on a jersey dress

Honestly, I thought this would be a quick afternoon project. I wanted a simple jersey dress with a draped cowl neck, but getting the drape to fall naturally without twisting or looking stiff took forever. I must have re-pinned and re-basted the neckline like 15 times. It ended up taking me three whole weekends to finally get it to look right. I was about to just scrap the whole dress. Has anyone else had this much trouble with jersey draping? What's your trick for getting it to behave?

Vent: My trademark search took three times longer than my lawyer said it would

I was told a simple trademark search for my new coffee shop name would take about two weeks. It actually took over six weeks because the lawyer found a similar name in a different state that was registered for a different class of goods. We had to get a full legal opinion on the risk of confusion, which cost an extra $800. A rock slide closed the main trail near Mount Rainier last month

I was hiking the Skyline Trail loop and saw fresh cracks in the cliff face above the path. Park rangers had to block it off three days later when a big section of loose basalt came down. It's a good reminder to always check for unstable rock, especially after heavy rain. Has anyone else seen recent slide activity in the Cascades?

Heard a senior tech say 'the customer's story is the first diagnostic tool' after a tough Ford F-150 misfire call.

He spent 20 minutes just listening to the owner describe the exact sound and when it happened, which pointed us straight to a failing coil pack on cylinder 3 that the scan data alone hadn't nailed down.

Hot take: I was wrong about skipping the primer on old drywall

For the longest time, I figured if the drywall in my 1978 house looked fine, I could just clean it and paint right over it. I must have done three rooms that way, and the paint always looked a bit patchy. Then, a painter I hired to do my high ceilings in the living room last month pointed at a wall I'd done and said, 'See that sheen difference? The old wall is sucking up the paint unevenly. You need a good stain-blocking primer, man, especially on anything this old.' He was right. I went back, bought a gallon of Kilz Original, and put a coat on before repainting my bedroom. The color went on perfectly even with just one top coat, and it saved me from doing a second coat of the expensive paint. Has anyone else found a specific primer that works better than others on really old, porous walls?

I was twisting wire nuts the same way for 10 years until a foreman in Tampa pointed it out

He watched me do a splice on a 12/3 run and said 'you're just spinning the nut, you need to spin the wires inside it.' I tried his way and the connection felt way more solid, like it actually pulled the wires together. How many of you actually twist the wires before putting the cap on versus just letting the nut do the work?
