Chose the $4 sandalwood candle over the free scented one from my mom, and now I can't unwind without it
Two weeks ago I had a rough Tuesday at work and grabbed the cheap grocery store lavender candle my mom left at my place instead of lighting the sandalwood one I keep for bad days, and the fake lavender smell gave me a headache that lasted till bed. Tossed it in the trash the next morning and went back to the sandalwood, and now I swear the whole ritual of striking one match and waiting for that first whiff does more for me than the actual scent. Does anyone else have a specific candle or smell that flips the switch after a garbage day, or am I just fooling myself?
Kept a plain beeswax candle on my desk for years and it did the same thing for me, the cheap stuff just never hit right. There is something about the match and the little pause before the smell shows up that tells your brain the day is over. So no, you are not fooling yourself.
