Shoutout to the guy at the Denver airport who gave me his extra blanket at 2am
I was stuck at DIA last month after my flight to Austin got delayed 6 hours, and I ended up sitting near the gate next to this older guy who was flying home from a fishing trip. Around 2am I was shivering in just a t-shirt because I packed my jacket in my checked bag like an idiot, and he just pulled a spare fleece blanket out of his carry-on and handed it to me without saying much. We ended up chatting for like 90 minutes about his grandkids and my new job, and he told me he always packs two blankets because "airports are colder than people think." When our flights finally got called at 6am he just nodded and walked off before I could even get his name. I still have that blanket folded up on my couch and I think about that guy every time I fly. Has anyone else had a stranger help them out in an airport during a travel mess?
That bit about him packing two blankets because "airports are colder than people think" is some real wisdom honestly. Next time I fly I'm throwing an extra one in my carry-on just so I can be that guy for someone else someday.
