Why I finally gave up on pre-mixed drywall mud
I mean, back when I first tried patching holes, I always grabbed the stuff in a tub because it seemed easier. Idk, it never dried right for me, always cracking or taking forever. Then a friend who fixes up old houses told me to try the powder you mix with water. Maybe it's just me, but my first batch was way too wet and made a huge mess. After a few tries, I got the feel for how thick it should be, like peanut butter. Now I can mix a small amount that sands down smooth without wasting any. It's cheaper too, which is nice when you're doing a lot of fixes. Looking back, I wish I'd switched sooner, but learning that skill made my repairs look way more professional.
