I used to think all caulk was the same until I redid my bathroom last summer

For years I just grabbed the cheapest tube at the hardware store and called it good. Then I spent a weekend sealing a new shower in July and the cheap stuff was peeling by September. I finally bit the bullet and bought a $12 tube of silicone-based caulk for the kitchen backsplash. Has anyone else noticed a big difference between cheap and mid-range sealants?

My husband bought a $40 caulk gun after the third cheap one broke mid-project.

Tbh the $40 caulk gun thing reminds me of my friend Jenna. She went through three cheap guns in one afternoon trying to seal her basement windows last fall. On the fourth one she finally gave up and borrowed her neighbor's expensive one. It was a whole different experience - no jerky motions no dripping everywhere. She finished the whole window line in like ten minutes flat. Meanwhile I was just nodding along thinking wow people really do invest in tools for a reason.
