My neighbor's one comment about my shiplap wall stopped me mid-project
I was putting up shiplap in my living room last month, not bothering to check if the studs were actually straight. My neighbor, who does remodeling work, walked in and said, 'That gap at the top is going to show every mistake you made.' He was right, the first two planks were off by half an inch because I trusted the level instead of the wall. I tore them down, shimmed the furring strips, and now the whole thing sits flush. Anyone else had a guest spot a flaw that took you an extra day to fix?

Man, that's rough! But the real question is, how did the studs look before you put the furring strips on, or did you just assume they were straight and never even checked? Because half an inch off means the wall itself was probably bowing pretty hard, and I'm curious if your level was actually working right or if you just got in a hurry and trusted one bubble without flipping it around. Seems like the kind of thing that makes you double check every tool after a fail like that, doesn't it?
