I moved $10,000 from my local bank's 0.5% account to a Vanguard fund paying over 4% last month (the difference is insane). Anyone else finally ditch their brick-and-mortar bank for something that actually works?

Had a client in Phoenix ask for a 12-inch thick brick wall for a garden feature last week. They said it needed to 'feel historic'.

I argued it was overkill and a waste of material, but my partner said to just give the customer what they want. We ended up using a double wythe with a cavity, but it felt wrong. Do you ever push back on a design you think is just bad building?

Vent: I tried a new layering trick in AutoCAD for a big site plan and it totally backfired

I was working on a 50-acre subdivision and tried putting all the utility lines on one layer to save time, but it made the file a mess when we needed to isolate the sewer. On one hand, it seems faster, but now I think separate layers for each utility are worth the extra clicks. Has anyone else had a layer system blow up on them?

My laptop battery life went from 2 hours to almost 5 after I left Chiang Mai

I mean, I was in Chiang Mai for a full year and my old MacBook Air would barely last a coffee shop session. I moved to a small town in Portugal six weeks ago, and now I can work outside all afternoon without the charger. I think it's just the cooler, less humid air here, but idk, maybe it's the different power grid? Has anyone else seen a big change in their gear's performance just from moving somewhere new?

Hot take: Our lead numbers tanked after we switched from plain talk to 'cyber speak'

For about six months, our emails and site copy were full of simple words like 'protect your data' and 'stop hackers'. We got around 50 solid leads a month, which felt good. Then our new marketing head came in and made us use terms like 'zero trust architecture' and 'threat surface reduction' everywhere. In the next quarter, our leads dropped to maybe 15 a month. People just stopped filling out forms, and our open rates fell off a cliff. Has anyone else seen their numbers crash when they got too technical with customers?
