inHad to pick between collecting vintage postcards or souvenir spoons for my new display case
Mounting 47 spoons without damaging the handles sounds like a serious museum project. They're souvenir spoons, not the crown jewels. A basic shadow box with some foam cutouts would probably do the job just fine.

inMy new light pollution filter was a total waste of $180
Oh man, @susan649 is totally right about the raw files. Jpeg throws away so much of that faint data the filter lets through, you're basically starting with half a picture. Stacking raws is the only way to get a clean final image because you're adding all that weak signal together. It is a ton of work, but the difference is like night and day, you finally see all the detail you actually captured. The single filtered frames look awful on purpose, the software needs all that raw info to build a good color image later. Skipping raw with filters is like using a net with huge holes to catch tiny fish.

inI read a thing about how much carbon a single mature tree can actually pull from the air
Wow, that number really puts it in perspective.

inShoutout to the guy at the coffee shop who called his budget a 'noise filter'
Look, I get wanting less stress, but shutting out all news is just sticking your head in the sand. That budget spreadsheet won't tell you if your job field is about to take a hit or if your savings are losing value fast. You need some awareness of the bigger picture to make good choices, otherwise you're just driving with the windshield covered. Finding a balance is key, not just turning everything off.

inPSA: I just read that Chiang Mai has over 50 co-working spaces now
Remember that hotel in Denver that bragged about free high speed internet on every floor? I spent half an hour on the phone with their support just to get a login page to load... it finally kicked on right as we were checking out. Felt like they saved maybe twelve cents on a router from 2004.
