I thought the sleep timer on my podcast app was pointless, then I woke up at 3am with 4 hours of true crime still playing
I always figured the sleep timer was just a gimmick, so for months I'd put on a long true crime podcast and let it run all night while I drifted off. Last Tuesday I woke up around 3am to a guy describing a crime scene in way too much detail, and I realized the episode had been playing for 4 hours straight, straight into my dreams. I turned on the 30 minute timer that night and actually fell asleep in about 15 minutes, which almost never happens for me. Now I want to know if anyone here sets theirs to a certain number or just picks whatever, because 30 feels right but I keep wondering if I'm missing something.
30 minutes seems short to me. Half the time I'm still lying there wide awake when it cuts off, then I have to grab my phone and start it again, which wakes me up even more. 60 minutes is my sweet spot because it gives me room to actually drift off without the episode dying right as I'm getting sleepy. You said you fell asleep in 15 minutes, so sure, 30 works for you. But that one good night does not mean it'll happen every night. Some nights your brain just will not shut off, and then what, you're stuck staring at the ceiling with no podcast?
