Went to a co-working space and saw 3 startups sharing one LLC

Stopped by The Hive in Austin yesterday and overheard the owner telling a new group they could all operate under his single LLC to save on filing fees, which sounds like a liability nightmare waiting to happen for everyone involved once someone sues.

That time a stranger on the bus helped me with my grocery bags

Last Tuesday I was carrying four heavy grocery bags on the 44 bus in Seattle, and one of them tore open right as I was getting on. A older woman in the back stood up and handed me two of her own cloth bags without saying a word. She helped me repack everything while the bus driver waited, and then she just smiled and went back to her seat. I tried to give her the bags back at my stop, but she shook her head and said "keep em, you'll need extras next time." Has anyone else had a complete stranger help out like that on their commute?

Can we talk about the old timer who told me to wet cut everything

Last month I was installing some pretty tough porcelain tile in a kitchen remodel over in Arlington. This old school guy at the supply house said I should wet cut all my tiles even for small jobs. I always thought it was a waste of time for simple straight cuts, so I brushed him off. Halfway through the job I had three tiles chip on me and had to run back for replacements. Has anyone else had better luck with wet cutting over dry cutting?

Just realized that VS Code extension I ignored for months actually saves me an hour a day

I've been writing code for like 6 months now and kept seeing everyone talk about this Prettier extension for formatting code. I thought it was just some fancy tool for people who are too lazy to hit tab or space their stuff out. Then last week I was working on a project with like 15 files and kept messing up brackets and indentation. Finally installed Prettier and it just fixed everything in one click. I wasted so much time manually aligning stuff. Has anyone else fought against a tool forever then finally gave in and realized it was actually useful?

My grandma told me to talk to my plants and I thought she was losing it

Back when I was in my early 20s, maybe 2016 or so, my grandma gave me a little jade plant cutting. She said 'you gotta talk to them, tell them they're pretty, they'll grow better.' I just laughed and put it on my windowsill. Watered it whenever I remembered, maybe once a week. It barely grew for like two years. Then one day I was on the phone with her, ranting about work, and I just started talking to the plant out of habit. I did it every morning with my coffee for a few months. That thing doubled in size. Now I have like 20 plants and I still mumble at them. Is there actual science behind this or is it just that I pay more attention when I talk to them?

Spent $800 on a dry aging fridge and now I think regular aging is better anyway.

The fancy one with humidity control just dried out my prime ribeyes faster than the old walk-in cooler ever did, anyone else find the expensive gear isn't always the answer?

Game store in Austin had zero tables for actual gaming

I went to Dice House Games on South Lamar last weekend and there were like 20 shelves of miniatures but only one small table in the back. Nobody was even using it, it was covered in boxes. How is a board game store supposed to work if you can't sit down and play a game there? Has anyone else run into stores that just sell stuff and don't support the hobby?

Had to choose between an old Grove and a new Terex for a job in Houston last spring

I picked the Grove because my dad used to run one back in the 90s, and honestly it felt more natural in the cab. That machine worked like a champ through a tight downtown setup, but I wonder if the newer one would have saved me time on the computer stuff - has anyone else stuck with older gear just for comfort?

My password manager setup was a mess until a coworker called me out on it

I used to keep all my passwords in a spreadsheet on my desktop and thought that was fine because it had a password on the file. Then a guy on my mail route saw it over my shoulder and said "if someone gets into your computer, they have everything" and that hit me hard. I switched to Bitwarden last month and set up two-factor authentication, but has anyone else had trouble getting family members to use a password manager too?

That crow at my feeder changed how I feed the whole yard...

My neighbor in Raleigh had the same problem with blue jays. I see it differently though @bell.felix. The crow isn't the problem it's just doing what crows do. I actually made my feeder smaller and put it on a pole with a baffle. That way the little birds can still get in but the crow can't land on it. The crow sticks to the ground for scraps like you said and honestly it's kind of nice having both. Now I get the cardinals and chickadees up top and the crow cleans up the mess they make. It feels like everybody wins instead of fighting over one spot.

Bought a $7 bag of lentils on a whim at the farmers market last Saturday, and now I'm ditching canned beans for good after the lady running the stall showed me how they soak up way more flavor in soups.

adamk95's curry sounds fine but red lentils get mushy too fast, I prefer green or brown for texture.
