Should I have used PVA glue or wheat paste on my first full leather rebind?
I bound my first full leather book over a month ago in my garage in Boise, and I went with wheat paste because a local binder said it lets you reposition the leather if you work fast. It ended up drying unevenly under the spine and I got a couple of bubbles I could not press out. PVA would have grabbed faster and maybe held flatter, but I keep reading that it is too stiff for leather and cracks down the road. Which one do you reach for on a full leather job, and does the climate where you bind make a difference?
