Tried a harness instead of a collar for my golden retriever and wow what a game changer

I mean maybe it's just me but my dog pulled like crazy on a collar and now with a harness she actually walks beside me. Anyone else find harnesses that much easier for bigger dogs?

Switched from wet towels to cambros for proofing dough and it's a game changer

For years I would lay a damp towel over my bread dough while it proofed on the counter. Worked fine most of the time until last summer when I found mold growing on a towel I'd used three days in a row. That grossed me out enough to switch to a 4-quart cambro with a lid. Now I just set the dough in there, put the lid on but not all the way, and it proofs perfectly without drying out. Plus I can stack multiple cambros in the walk-in for overnight cold ferments. The clear plastic lets me see when the dough has doubled without opening anything. Has anyone else dealt with mold issues on proofing towels or found a better setup?

PSA: Check your monitor arm gas springs before they fail

Was at a coworking space in Nashville last week and watched some guy's monitor slowly drop 6 inches while he was typing. Scared the hell out of me. Turns out those gas springs don't last forever, especially in humid conditions. Anyone else had a desk clamp or arm suddenly give out on them?

I finally had a lift bag slip on a 90-foot wreck off the coast of Morehead City last month

The bag detached from a 200-pound steel beam I was rigging, shot to the surface with 30 feet of line whipping around, and I had to go up, cut it loose, and re-rig everything before my bottom time ran out - has anyone else had a bag come loose mid-lift like that?

Rant: That rosehip oil everyone hypes gave me cystic acne in 2 weeks

Yeah so I finally caved and tried The Ordinary's rosehip oil after like 8 clients told me it was a miracle for their hyperpigmentation. Figured it's natural, how bad could it be? Day 3 I had three deep painful bumps along my jawline. By day 10 my chin looked like a battlefield. I'm an esthetician I should know better than to buy into the hype without patch testing properly on myself. My theory is the linoleic acid content just clogs me up personally. Has anyone else had a bad reaction to a supposedly 'holy grail' natural oil that everyone swears by?

Traffic circle in my town took 45 seconds to navigate until they added a second lane. Now it takes 12 minutes.

The city council near me voted to 'improve' the roundabout on 5th Street by adding an extra lane. Been driving it for 7 years with zero issues. First day after the change I sat through three light cycles trying to merge. Who actually asked for this? Anyone else dealing with a road project that made things worse?

Was setting up a wheelset for 10 years the wrong way

I've been building wheels since 2014. Always lubed the spoke threads with Tri-Flow before tensioning. Last month a old timer named Dave at my local co-op watched me lace a rear wheel. He says "you're just making them slip later." I blew him off at first. But after 300 miles that wheel went completely out of true. Switched to dry spokes with just a dab of oil on the nipple threads. Tension held perfect. Guess I was just making my own work harder. Anyone else have a habit they got told was backwards?.

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his tiny local bakery hit 50k in sales last quarter

I was waiting for my order when this guy next to me was on the phone talking about how his bakery grew just by focusing on repeat customers instead of ads. He said they only spent $300 on marketing the whole time and the rest was word of mouth and handwritten thank-you notes. Made me wonder how many of us are overcomplicating growth when simple stuff like that still works.

Went to a truck stop in Bakersfield and noticed something about the idling

I pulled into that TA off the 99 last Tuesday to grab coffee and saw a dozen trucks running their engines for over an hour in 68 degree weather. Must have been burning through diesel like crazy for no reason. Anybody else see drivers just not bother shutting down when temps are fine?

Tried using a jigsaw for dovetails after seeing it on YouTube... what a mess

I saw this guy online cutting perfect dovetails with just a jigsaw and a guide. Figured I'd give it a shot on some scrap pine last weekend. After three attempts and two broken blades, the joints looked like a beaver chewed them out. My hand cut ones with a chisel might take longer but at least they fit. Has anyone actually made the jigsaw method work for real joinery, or is it just for show?
