Dropped $60 on a Chemex and now my pour-over game is ruined
I figured my $12 plastic dripper was enough, but since I bought the glass one at a shop in Seattle, every cup from the old setup tastes like dirty water, so has anyone else regretted upgrading to something that made everything else worse?

Read an article once about how the flavor difference is mostly in the paper filter and grind size, not the glass itself, but I call bull on that after tasting the same beans side by side. The glass one just holds heat way better, so the water stays at the right temp longer, and that changes the whole extraction. I went back to my old Melitta after a week and it legit tasted like ash and cardboard, so I get exactly what you mean. Ended up giving the cheap dripper to my neighbor and now I'm stuck being a snob with a $60 paperweight that I secretly love. You're not ruined, you're just spoiled now, and there's no going back once you know what the good stuff tastes like.
