My food budget for a week in Lisbon was only 45 euros
I just got back from Portugal and I'm still shocked at how little I spent on meals. I tracked every single euro and it came out to 45 euros for the whole week, which is about 6.50 a day. The key was hitting the local markets right before closing, around 6 pm, when vendors would sell fresh bread, fruit, and pastries for almost nothing to avoid taking it back. I'd get a bag of oranges for a euro and a few pastel de natas for 50 cents each. For lunch, I'd make big sandwiches from market ingredients and eat in a park. I honestly ate better than I do at home and never felt like I was missing out. Has anyone else found a specific city or market where this strategy worked amazingly well?
