Hot take: I thought the new Milwaukee cordless mag drill was just hype, but it saved our crew 3 hours on a job in Toledo last Thursday.

Yeah @faith_king, my old corded one would've taken all day and probably shocked me twice.

I finally asked my boss for a raise after my project saved the company $12,000

How many people just hope their work gets noticed? That story is so real. I saw the same thing happen with a girl who tracked how much faster her new filing system was. She showed the boss she saved like 20 hours a month. It's like you have to translate your work into money or time for them to finally see it.

Finally got the hang of that tricky Victorian flue in the old district

Totally agree about finding the right tool. Sometimes you gotta try a few things before something clicks and gets the job done. That win makes all the frustration worth it.

A customer in Phoenix told me my 3/8 drive impact was 'cute' for suspension work. Switched to a 1/2 inch Milwaukee and haven't looked back.

That "cute" comment is the same energy as people who think a bigger tool always means a better job. Leo_fisher gets it, the right tool for the space you're in. I see this everywhere, like someone using a huge knife to chop one clove of garlic. You just end up making more work for yourself. The 3/8 drive is for finesse, not for show.

Had a wild week with three old chimneys in the historic district

Three hours into a job last month I found a whole section of clay liner just gone, turned to powder. It was behind what looked like a minor blockage. Michael Jenkins is right, you start to expect it. The scary part is how normal the outside looks while the inside is falling apart. You fix one hidden disaster and the next call is probably the same thing. It makes you check every inch because the small signs point to big trouble.
