Spent 6 hours trying to fix a weird color shift in my Procreate export

Turns out it was the 'Embed Color Profile' box being unchecked in the PNG settings, which I never touch. Has anyone else had their art look totally washed out on other screens?

Had a chat with an old timer at the feed store about hoof knives

I was picking up some supplies in Billings last week and got talking to this retired farrier, maybe 70 years old. He said, 'A sharp knife is a safe knife, but a dull one makes you push too hard.' I've always kept mine sharp, but hearing him say it made me really think about my pressure on the hoof. How do you guys judge when you're using too much force on a trim?

I just read that the first glass furnace in America was built in 1608

Honestly, I found that out in a book on colonial crafts I picked up at the library. It was in Jamestown, Virginia, and it only ran for a few years before it shut down. Tbh, it just hit me how long people have been trying to do this work here, with way less gear than we have now. I always figured it was a much newer thing in this country. Makes you think about how much easier it is to get a decent torch or kiln today. Has anyone else come across an old fact about the craft that stuck with you?

Spent 6 hours on a missing semicolon in my first JavaScript project

I was building a simple to-do list app, following a guide from a site called FreeCodeCamp. Everything looked right, but the 'add task' button just would not work. I checked the logic, the event listener, everything. I even rewrote the function three times from scratch. Finally, after almost a full day, I spotted it: a missing semicolon on line 47. The console error was not helpful at all. It just said 'unexpected token'. Has anyone else lost a huge chunk of time to a tiny syntax error like that when starting out?

A regular at my cafe in Portland told me my pour was too fast

He pointed at my coffee and said, 'You're rushing it, the grounds aren't blooming right.' I watched him do a slow, steady pour over his own cup. The next day, I tried his way, counting to 30 for the bloom. The flavor was totally different, way more balanced. Has anyone else had a simple tip from a customer change how you make coffee?

My basement drywall job made me rethink taping vs. mudding first

I always taped the seams before applying any mud, but a contractor buddy told me to put a thin coat down first. Tried it on a 10-foot section and the tape stuck way better with no bubbles. Anyone else switch up their drywall order?

Found out the average home has 300 feet of electrical wire in it

I was reading an old building code book from the library and saw that stat. It made me think about my grandpa's house, built in the 60s, where you could see maybe two outlets per room. Now, with all our gadgets, I bet my own place has double that wire run through the walls. It's wild how much stuff is hidden behind the drywall that we never think about. Makes you respect the work that goes into a simple rewire job. Anyone else come across a fact about home construction that made you stop and think?

Finally got the hang of spotting a load's swing in high wind after that job at the new port facility in Corpus Christi.

The foreman pointed out a specific flag on a distant antenna, saying 'watch that, not the load', and after three gusty hours it just clicked for me.
