inLast Tuesday was the hottest day I've ever worked through - 107 degrees in Austin
Hate to play devil's advocate but this is overblown. Workers comp is a pain for everyone involved. You file a claim and suddenly your boss is on your back about every little thing. Not worth the headache unless you're literally dying. Lots of guys in construction would rather just tough it out than deal with the paperwork and the suspicion. Plus most comp policies have heat exhaustion exclusions anyway. They'll fight you on it. Say it was a pre existing condition or you didn't drink enough water. Better to just negotiate with your boss directly. Threatening legal stuff just makes enemies.

inQuestion about eating out budgets - a friend changed my mind
$1,200 over six months is only $200 a month. That's like six bucks a day. People spend more than that on coffee. I knew a guy who saved $3,000 in a year by giving up his daily energy drink habit and then blew it all on a weekend trip to Vegas. Meal prepping is fine if you LIKE eating the same chicken and rice five days straight, but calling it an "emergency fund" situation feels dramatic. You could cut your takeout in half and still have plenty leftover for burritos without turning into a spreadsheet warrior.

inDrove past that new subdivision outside of Austin and the fences were a mess
Yeah @carter.casey you're not wrong, I've seen enough fence posts rot out in a season to know that's a disaster waiting to happen. Guess they figure if you can't see the foundation from the street it doesn't count. Must be nice to have that kind of faith in dirt and a prayer.

inMy $200 rain barrel was a total flop
Nothing worse than watching a whole season's savings just dry up like that.
