My wife swears The Wire is a slow burn, I say it hooks you by episode 3. Who's right?
We started The Wire two weeks ago on a friend's recommendation and got into an actual argument by episode 4. She wanted to quit after the first one because it felt like homework, while I told her the whole thing clicks once you know who everyone is. I've seen people say it takes 6 episodes to get going, but I still think the third one is where it grabs you. So which side are you on, does a slow start make a show better once it pays off, or should a binge show grab you in the pilot?
