TIL a guy on a forum gave me a 3-step method to check if a viral claim is real and it actually worked
Last month I kept seeing posts claim a new law in Ohio would ban home gardens, and it was spreading fast with 40k shares. Instead of arguing in the comments, I tried a trick someone posted: search the bill number on the state legislature site, check who sponsored it, and look for the actual text. Took me 9 minutes and the bill was about septic tanks, not gardens at all. Now I run every big claim through those 3 steps before I say a word, and it has saved me from looking dumb at least 4 times. What is your go-to move for checking a claim before you share it?
