Tried an AI upscaler on my late dad's 1998 photos and got something weird back
I ran 47 old family photos through an AI upscaler last week and most came out great, but three of them did something odd. In one pic of my dad at a lake near Traverse City, the model added a whole extra hand on his shoulder that wasn't in the original scan. I know these tools guess at missing pixels, but seeing it invent a hand out of blur is unsettling. It made me realize these models don't restore what was there, they just fill gaps with what looks likely. Now I double check every output against the original before I print anything. Has anyone found a setting or tool that cuts down on that kind of made up detail?
