Gas station guy fixed my tire with a can of Fix-a-Flat and a prayer

I was at a Shell station in Phoenix last Tuesday, 9 PM, dead flat on my right rear. This older dude in a stained work shirt just walks over, doesn't ask, grabs his own can of Fix-a-Flat from his truck, and starts pumping. He said "this won't last long but it'll get you home." That sealant held for 12 miles, got me to a tire shop the next morning. Has anyone else had a stranger step in like that without you even asking?

Used to fight with LVP transitions for years until a job in Austin changed my mind

For the longest time I would spend 45 minutes just trying to get a transition strip to sit flat between LVP and tile. I'd cut it, recut it, sand the edges, and it still looked like garbage half the time. Then last spring I did a kitchen in Austin where the homeowner was watching me struggle and goes 'why don't you just use a T-mold with a track instead of that gluedown crap?' I felt like an idiot because I'd been using the same method for 6 years. Now I switched to track-in T-molds for any transition over 3/8 inch gap and it takes me maybe 10 minutes total. Has anyone else had a moment where a customer pointed out something simple that totally changed your workflow?

Hit 100 plays on Crokinole last night and it felt weird

I finally crossed 100 logged plays of Crokinole on my BGG account. That game has been sitting on my shelf for like 4 years and I never thought I'd actually track that many games of anything. For context, my next closest is maybe 40 plays of something like The Crew. What got me was how each game felt different even though the rules never change. The discs get nicked up and the board gets smoother over time, which actually changes how you shoot. Has anyone else hit a surprising play count on a dexterity game and noticed it plays different now?

Dialed in my derailleur after 18 months of hunting a ghost

I picked up a 2019 Trek Domane used back in February 2023. From day one, shifting under load in the middle of the cassette was rough. I replaced the cable, the housing, even the hanger. Last week I finally checked the cassette lockring torque. It was barely hand-tight. Tightened it to 40 Nm and now it shifts like a dream. Has anyone else dealt with a shifting issue that turned out to be something that simple?

Watched a guy at a demo last weekend in Dayton and noticed he was barely hitting his metal before it started moving. I'm over here swinging like a maniac on cold steel. The second I heated it up to a proper orange it bent like butter. Has anyone else had that forehead slapping moment where you realize you were doing something basic totally backwards?
