Pro tip: skip the fancy dot grid stencil, a $3 ruler did the job
I almost dropped $22 on a metal stencil last month because my lines kept slanting, but then a guy at the art store in Dayton showed me a cheap clear ruler and a light pencil line first. Turns out my real problem was rushing, not the tool. Anyone else buy a gadget and find out a plain ruler works just as well?

Watched a friend do the exact same thing with a $30 contour gauge he used maybe twice.
