My $30 dice tower broke mid-campaign and I think cheap upgrades are a trap

Two Fridays ago my $30 dice tower split apart during the final boss fight of our campaign, and dice went everywhere under the couch. Everyone keeps saying just buy the $80 wooden one, but I superglued it back together and taped it, and honestly it rolls fine now. I think most of this hobby stuff is overpriced and we all just want new toys. Spent $12 on glue and a clamp instead of replacing it. Anyone else fixed their broken gear instead of buying the fancy version?
