Saw a video where a geologist said granite's quartz content is what wrecks tools. Even the best steel can chip if you hit it wrong. That's why some people keep a separate, cheaper hammer for hard rock. They just expect to replace the tip more often. Makes you wonder if any hammer is truly granite-proof, right?
