Got stuck on the 405 for an hour because someone's couch fell off a truck

I was just past the Getty Center exit when traffic just stopped, and after inching forward for what felt like forever, I saw a whole sofa sitting in the middle lane (like, who does that?). I had to call my boss and say I'd be late, which was super fun. Has anyone else had a commute ruined by flying furniture?

Feel for you, that stretch near the Getty is brutal even on a good day. Logan_ellis has a point about bosses usually getting it, but did the person who lost the couch ever circle back to get it, or did they just leave it there for someone else to hit?

My uncle once lost an entire set of lawn chairs off the back of his pickup on I-5. He didn't even notice for like ten miles, just driving along with the tailgate down. We had to backtrack and only found three of them, all pretty busted up.

Honestly, "ruined" seems like a strong word for a traffic delay. It's an annoying morning for sure, but stuff like this happens all the time on those freeways. Was your boss actually mad, or did they just say to drive safe?
