Watched a dude at my local shop do almost the exact same thing to a guy in his 30s. He picked up this weird noir book about a detective who solves crimes in a city run by talking animals and the kid goes "you gonna read that or just hold it?" The dude laughed and actually bought it. I started mixing in horror and slice of life stuff after that and now I actually remember what happens in the books I read. Turns out capes are fine but if that's all you eat you forget the taste, you know? The kid was rude about it but he wasn't wrong.

Wrote mine in a cheap notebook too. Filling out the little boxes by hand makes me stop and think before I swipe my card. My spreadsheet was too easy to ignore, I could just close the tab and forget it. Paper sits on the counter and stares at me every night. That Tuesday lunch thing is real, mine was Friday takeout, ate $40 a week without even noticing.
