My color client of 3 years asked why I never told her her hair was damaged, and I haven't stopped thinking about it
She sat in my chair at the salon on 5th and said her old stylist always warned her before doing a big lift, so why hadn't I? I just figured she knew, her ends have been fried since I met her and she keeps asking for the same platinum. Now I'm second guessing every client I assumed was on the same page as me. Do you all do a quick damage check talk before lightening, or just read the room?

The same thing happens at the vet with my dog, where they assume I know she's overweight and I assume they'd tell me if it mattered. Or at Jiffy Lube, where nobody mentions my brakes are shot until I'm already paying for an oil change. People just don't say the hard stuff because they figure someone else already did or the person already knows. Your client wasn't mad you didn't warn her, she was embarrassed she didn't know. A quick "hey your ends are pretty fried, want to talk about it before we lift" takes ten seconds and saves three years of weirdness.
