inWhy does nobody talk about the sand at the old rodeo grounds jobs?
Dug plenty of holes over on that side and yeah the sand mix is annoying but it's not some crazy special ground. Every lot near the fairgrounds has caliche, that's just how this town is. My auger slips sideways in half the yards I work, you just go slower and water it the night before. Pour a deeper footing and you're fine, people have been building sheds and fences out there for years without the sky falling.

inTIL a $9 Walmart fleece throw beat my $60 weighted blanket for couch naps
A $9 Walmart throw taking down a $60 weighted blanket is the underdog story I didn't know I needed today. Getting a weighted blanket situated is like trying to wrestle a beanbag chair that's filled with sand, by the time you're comfy your lunch break is over. Half the battle with those things is just figuring out which end is which. My cat loves mine way more than I do, she treats it like her personal fort and I'm just the guy who lifts it for her. Cheap thin blankets win the couch nap game every single time because you can just kick them off when you get too hot.

inThat sketchy guy at the Portland bus stop who said he'd watch my bag while I ran to the bathroom actually did it
Man that is such a good feeling. I let a dude at a Greyhound station in Sac watch my duffel once and I was sure it was gone when I came back. He was just sitting there eating a hot dog like nothing happened. Most people are decent I swear. You hear all the bad stories but the quiet good ones happen way more.
