inJust realized that hiking during work hours isn't a bad idea
Read somewhere that's how most bunker exits are hidden.

inUpdate: Washing out my peanut butter jar right after breakfast gives me a boost
Oh man, I feel this so much. That sticky jar residue is the worst, and just letting it dry is a nightmare to clean later. I started doing the same thing with my jam jars and it's such a dumb little relief. My thing is using the leftover water from boiling pasta to water my plants once it cools. Saves water and the plants seem to like the starchy stuff. It feels like a tiny win.

inI finally gave in on using a torque wrench for scope mounts
Nothing says 'skilled craftsman' like warping a rotor because you trusted your gut over a torque wrench. Same vibe as the guy who eyeballs mortar mix and wonders why his patio cracks after one winter. Or the home cook who insists they can tell doneness by touch, then serves chicken that could double as a hockey puck. We've all met that person who treats a digital thermometer like it's cheating at a game where the only prize is botulism. It's a special kind of pride that chooses consistent failure over using a simple tool.

inFormal certifications for pile drivers might be holding us back
What if the problem is that we're not properly COMBINING certifications with hands-on mentoring? Certifications give a necessary foundation in safety protocols and theory that pure field experience might overlook. I've witnessed seasoned operators make dangerous mistakes because they never learned the standardized procedures. That paperwork represents a baseline of knowledge that PROTECTS everyone on site. The real issue might be that we're certifying people without ensuring they can apply that knowledge practically.

inMaster key systems aren't the nightmare everyone claims, in my experience. Figuring out the shear line issue during a hotel's emergency lockout changed my entire approach, but your mileage may vary.
Disagree, that shear line trick is more trouble than it's worth. Spent an hour fiddling with it and still called a locksmith. Master keys might be annoying, but they don't leave you stranded.
