Master key systems aren't the nightmare everyone claims, in my experience. Figuring out the shear line issue during a hotel's emergency lockout changed my entire approach, but your mileage may vary.

Disagree, that shear line trick is more trouble than it's worth. Spent an hour fiddling with it and still called a locksmith. Master keys might be annoying, but they don't leave you stranded.
