Yeah, learned that one the hard way last year. Thought I was being smart working late shifts for the extra pay, basically running on coffee and three hours of sleep. My brilliant plan to save money on my electric bill by being asleep less just meant I spent twice as much on caffeine and takeout. Wound up so run down I got pneumonia, and the urgent care visit wiped out all those "savings" in one afternoon. Honestly, my body sent me an invoice with way more zeros than my utility company ever did.

See this pattern EVERYWHERE. People skip routine doctor visits to save a copay, then get hit with a huge ER bill later. Same with cars, putting off basic maintenance until the whole thing breaks down. Your pneumonia story is just the human version, the body charging a STUPID penalty fee. We get so focused on small savings now that we miss the big costs coming later. It's like a basic rule of bad decisions.

Last kitchen job I pulled 80 hour weeks for three months straight. Lived on energy drinks and gas station taquitos. Ended up in the ER with chest pains that were just exhaustion. Your body just turns off the lights when the bill isn't paid.
