Honestly, after a bad fry job last year (thanks, cheap salon), I always bring my own heat protectant spray. It's saved my hair more than once. For example, I ask to see the bottle before they start styling. If they give me a weird look, I just hand them mine. @jaken28, it might seem extra, but it's worth it to avoid damage. Plus, some places use really watered-down stuff that does nothing.

My hair's so dry it crackles like wrapping paper. I've been using water sprays that just make it frizzy, looking a bit desperate. Conditioner on the comb is a smart fix for my static mess.

Ha! I was the same way, using mull like it was a required step. Guess I was just being a nervous newbie. My tiny journals are doing great without it too.
