PSA: Spent 5 weeks chasing a dead cylinder that turned out to be a 60 cent condenser

My 66 Mustang started missing on cylinder 4 back in March, so I swapped plugs, wires, cap, and even pulled the head before a guy at the local cruise night in Akron asked if I'd checked the condenser in the distributor. Turns out the points were fine but that little condenser was breaking down once it got warm, which took me 5 weeks of weekend wrenching and about $200 in parts I didn't need. Has anyone else had one of those 60 cent parts cost you a whole month of Sundays?
