Feels like the same reason I love used bookstores, the book has a little history you can't get from a fresh one. Finding someone's random thoughts in the margins makes it feel like you're reading along with them.

Rant: I bought a $60 'pro grade' compression tool that snapped on my 3rd fitting in Garland

Bending a jaw means that tool was cast pot metal, not the forged steel it should be. The $120 one your lead carries probably has a hardened steel jaw that flexes and springs back instead of cracking. Same thing happens with cheap crimpers on big lugs too, the handles bow out and the dies chip. You get maybe ten good presses before it starts slipping. Spend the money once on a name brand and it outlives three cheap ones.

Why does nobody warn about left lane exit regulars on the 405

My buddy used to take the 405 to Irvine every day and he had the exact same problem near the 55. One morning this guy in a truck shot across from the carpool lane to make the MacArthur exit and clipped a sedan right in front of him. Scared him so bad he switched to taking surface streets even though it added like 20 minutes. The signs really are the worst part, you don't even know it's a left exit until you're almost on top of it.
