Why does nobody talk about the $400 I dropped on a used hood dryer back in 2019
I remember standing in that little supply shop off 5th in Columbus, back when I was still renting a single chair and washing hair in a kitchen sink, and the owner wanted 400 bucks for a used hood dryer that looked like it came out of my grandma's basement. I almost walked out, but I paid it and it ended up being the thing that let me take on three color clients at once instead of one, since they could sit under it while I worked. Fast forward to now and my new spot has two of those fancy digital ones, but I still drag the old beast out when the schedule gets stacked. The part that burns me is the cheap tabletop steamer I bought for 60 dollars a couple years back, thinking it would handle treatments just fine, and it died on me mid-appointment with foils half done. That one quiet little purchase turned into a very loud apology and a free redo. Curious what piece of gear you all still swear by years later, or what cheap thing bit you in the back of the head?
