inSo I drafted a simple contract myself for a $500 freelance job in Phoenix
Well, in my case it was asking for a whole new page layout after the design was locked in. You know, the classic "while you're in there" move. I've learned to price my weekend side things like they're my main thing, just to avoid that exact talk. It's amazing how a small budget can come with the biggest change orders.

inTIL the old truck stop in Flagstaff has a free tool library for drivers
That's a really smart setup. A basic socket set can save someone a huge tow bill if they just need to tighten a bracket. More places should copy that idea, maybe even add a cheap OBD2 scanner for checking engine lights.

inSaw a brick arch in Charleston that made me stop and stare
For old brick like that, a lime-based mortar is the only way to go (modern stuff will crack it).

inHeard a guy at the hardware store call a pork shoulder a 'boston butt' and it threw me for a loop
Right? It's a super common mix-up. Happens to the best of us.

inI thought those 'free security audit' offers were just a sales trap until one actually found a real problem.
My buddy got one of those emails with a real tool name and everything. They sent a scary looking report and then called it a "courtesy follow up" that was just a salesperson pushing a contract. It's all the same playbook once you see it.
