Tried the basket trick for my book piles and now I have a shelf I never planned for
I have a bad habit of stacking books on the floor next to my reading chair and it was getting out of hand, 23 books at last count. Two months ago I grabbed three woven baskets from the thrift store near my place in Tacoma for about $14 total and just tossed the books in by size. The weird part is I stopped reading the ones in the baskets. I think because they're hidden I forget they're there, and I keep going back to the same four books on the open shelf instead. So now I have a nice looking corner that's basically a graveyard for books I meant to read. I want the basket look but I also want to see my spines, so what do you all do to keep a spot tidy and still keep the books visible? My baskets might be the wrong call and I'm not too proud to swap them out.
