My recent frustration with aftermarket quarter panel fitment
I've observed a trend where aftermarket quarter panels for sedans often have inconsistent contours. This creates problems during installation as the curves don't align with original body lines. Recently, a mid-size car's replacement panel had a bulge near the wheel arch. Despite our efforts with hammering and filler, it wouldn't blend smoothly. The result was a unhappy customer and a costly redo. It's evident that some manufacturers skimp on stamping accuracy. This has made me verify each aftermarket part against the vehicle beforehand. Now, I prefer OEM suppliers for their reliable fit, even at a higher cost.
