Got a laugh from the crew after fixing a sensor with a zip tie

Was dealing with a landing gear sensor that kept acting up. Tried all the usual stuff, no luck. Had a bright idea to use a zip tie for a temp hold. It worked so well we left it in for the next check. Boss saw it and cracked up, said it was genius.

Oh wow, that's hilarious and totally smart! I did something like that with a loose cable on my old car, just slapped a zip tie on it as a quick fix. It held for so long I forgot about it until my mechanic pointed it out during a service. He just shook his head and said it was actually a solid job. Those little hacks really do save the day sometimes.

Man, mechanics must see some wild stuff with these quick fixes. I knew a guy who used duct tape to hold his bumper on for like a year. It's kinda amazing how those "temporary" solutions just become part of the car forever. Your zip tie story is a classic, honestly better than most. At least it didn't involve a bread clip or a flaming sock, lol. Some of those hacks just outlive the car itself.

@amy974, isn't it wild how these quick fixes become part of the car's personality? I'm so guilty of relying on them, like the time I used a bread clip to hold a mirror in place. It fell off after a rainstorm, and I had to explain why my mirror was taped with old receipts. Or when I tried to silence a rattle with a sock, only for it to catch fire near the engine. Whoops, maybe not my brightest moments.
