That moment I realized 6 months of purple shampoo did nothing for my brass

I've been using purple shampoo every single wash for like 6 months straight thinking it was fighting my brass. Then last weekend I did a quick toner at home with a Wella T18 and 20 volume developer and holy crap the difference was night and day. My hair went from brassy orange to an actual cool ash blonde in 25 minutes. Has anyone else wasted months on shampoo when they could've just toned properly?

Had a guy at the blueprint shop lecture me for 10 minutes about how I hold my pencil

He said I grip it wrong and that's why my lines come out shaky, but I've been drafting for 12 years and never had a complaint, so do any of you actually care about pencil grip or is this guy just bored?

TIL about cleaning a chimney with a shop vac and a dryer hose

My neighbor Pat showed me his setup last spring - he uses a shop vac with a dryer hose taped to the intake to suck soot from the top while he brushes from below. Has anyone else tried this method or stuck with the traditional bags?

Hot take: my 8 hour brisket trim turned into a 3 day ordeal

I keep seeing everyone rave about those fast trim jobs on YouTube where pitmasters knock out a whole packer in like 15 minutes. Well I tried to copy that and ended up spending way too long on a single brisket last month. What they don't show is how much fat you actually need to leave on for a 12 hour smoke. I trimmed off too much, got paranoid, then spent 2 hours trying to patch it back together with butchers twine and hope. Then my smoker temp spiked because I was distracted and I had to babysit it all night. Total time from start to finished product was around 30 hours just for one cook. Has anyone else ruined a brisket by following those speed trimming videos?

My lawyer friend was right about that vendor contract clause

She told me to add a termination for convenience clause in our service agreement with that IT firm in Phoenix. I pushed back for 2 months thinking it was unnecessary, then they dropped us with 30 days notice and we had no way to get our data back fast. Anyone else had to learn the hard way that boilerplate clauses actually matter?

The old trail through Grizzly Creek in Colorado got rerouted 8 years ago and now it just feels like a boring gravel path

Used to be this rough, rooty single track that tested your ankles and made you feel like you earned the view of the valley, but after the forest service widened it for horse traffic and put down all that crusher fines, half the fun just vanished and has anyone else noticed how these reroutes always take the wildness out of a good hike?

Tried cleaning a corroded Game Boy battery terminal with plain white vinegar instead of isopropyl alcohol and it worked way better than I expected

I soaked a q-tip in regular store brand vinegar and dabbed it on the green crust on a Game Boy Pocket I picked up at a garage sale for $5, let it sit for 2 minutes, then scrubbed with a toothbrush and it came off completely without damaging the contacts like I worried it might has anyone else found vinegar better for certain types of corrosion?

Appreciation post: that empty lot turned into a wildflower spot near the creek

There's this lot by the creek behind the old gas station that's been bare dirt as long as I can remember. About two months ago the city piled some mulch and dumped a seed mix there after a storm drain project... I walked past it yesterday and it's full of purple coneflowers and black-eyed Susans. It's wild what a little soil and time can do, I used to just see a waste of space. Has anyone else seen a random spot near them bloom out of nowhere like that?

PSA: My tire pressure monitor failed during a snowstorm last Tuesday

I was driving home on I-94 in Michigan when the light came on for low pressure. Couldn't find a working air pump at any gas station for 20 miles. Ended up having to pull over and use one of those portable inflators I keep in my trunk, which took forever in the cold. Anyone else carry backup gear that saved them?
