inOld timer showed me a luffing trick I'd never seen in 15 years on the job
Hold on, I gotta push back a little on this. I've seen more accidents from guys "letting the boom breathe" than I have from people who just muscle through and get it done. That feathering trick works great on a calm day with a light load, but try that nonsense when you've got 20 tons swinging in a crosswind and see how fast you lose control. I've been doing this 20 years and I watch guys try that old timer wisdom and end up bouncing the load off a beam because they're too busy being gentle when they should just commit to the move. Sometimes the hard way is the hard way for a reason, and that reason is safety, not just stubbornness.

inFinally found a comic shop that gets it...
Oh wow, you actually drove all the way out to Annapolis for that? (I mean, I guess that makes sense, Third Eye's got that reputation). @clairen85 I totally get why you said it's not hype - I had a similar thing happen at a shop in Richmond last month where the owner remembered my pull list from like two years ago. It's wild how rare it is to find places that don't immediately try to upsell you on variants or whatever hot new #1 just dropped. That whole "what are you reading" approach is such a breath of fresh air, because half the time I walk into a store and the guy behind the counter is already pitching me like I'm a customer at a used car lot. Makes you want to actually spend money there, you know?

inCan we talk about the guy who brought a full breakfast on the bus?
Honestly, the real question here is was he at least eating off an actual plate or was it one of those sad paper plates that folds in half mid-bite? Tbh, I've seen people eat tacos on the bus but never a full plate of bacon and eggs with a fork like some kind of power move. Ngl, I'm kind of impressed he committed to the whole bit with utensils and everything instead of just shoving it in his face. What gets me is, did he bring the plate from home or did he smuggle it out of a breakfast place?

inOverheard a customer say glue-down floors are "old school" and it got me thinking
Glue down is the only way to go for anything that sees real use. Safer than dealing with click-lock popping apart down the road.

inWhy does nobody talk about people who stand in grocery store aisles staring at their phone?
Wait how many times has that actually worked for you before someone figured it out and got mad? I feel like one person would catch on eventually and then you'd have to deal with an awkward confrontation anyway lol. Is it worth the risk of getting called out just to save 30 seconds in an aisle?
