Just realized the barista at The Daily Grind was totally right about the window seat

She told me three weeks ago that the best people-watching and conversations happen at the small table by the front window, not the big comfy chairs in back. I finally snagged it yesterday and ended up talking with a guy from Oslo for an hour about his favorite local roaster. Does anyone else have a specific spot in their regular shop that always leads to a good story?

The counter by the espresso machine is my spot. You overhear all the regulars' orders and the staff's inside jokes.

Actually, the best spot is the high-top table near the outlet. You get to see the whole room without being in the main traffic flow, and it's easier to chat with people waiting for their drinks. I've met more neighbors there than anywhere else in my local place.

Wow, I always thought the back was better too.
