TIL a simple grocery trick saved me over $100 this month

I always thought planning meals was a waste of time, but my sister showed me her method of writing a list based on the weekly flyer. I tried it for the first time two weeks ago at my local Kroger. I bought only what was on sale and planned five dinners around those items. My usual grocery bill is around $300, but this time it was $187! I even had enough for a little treat. Has anyone else found a specific store flyer strategy that works for them?

I have to disagree with calling it a lot of work. In my experience, that first list takes maybe 20 minutes. After that, you get faster. Saving over a hundred bucks for less than an hour of effort feels pretty good to me. It adds up fast over a year.

Sounds like a lot of work for $100.
