Appreciation post: my neighbor who showed me why password managers matter

Honestly it's wild how many people treat passwords like a minor inconvenience until their bank account gets cleaned out. I know a guy who used "ilovecats" for literally everything including his work email and online banking. Took him getting locked out of his own accounts for three days before he finally let me set him up with a password manager. Bitwarden is solid and free which makes it easy to recommend to anyone.

Vent: That "layer mask everything" advice almost ruined my piece

Oh damn I gotta try that! The organic stuff has been driving me crazy lately. So wait, do you set the clipping mask on a base shape and then just paint the shadows and highlights on multiply layers above it? I've been trying to figure out if there's a way to keep that soft texture without fighting the mask edges the whole time lol.

Question about regulating your air on deep commercial dives

Man I had the exact same thing happen to me about a year ago on a 100 foot wreck dive. I was burning through air like crazy and couldn't figure out why until my buddy noticed a tiny stream of bubbles coming from my second stage. It was barely even visible but it was costing me like 15-20 minutes of bottom time easily. I finally took the reg apart and cleaned the seat with a q-tip and some mild soap, then replaced the o-ring on the adjustment knob. That fixed it completely and my consumption went right back to normal. Honestly those little leaks are worse than big ones because you just assume it's your breathing or the current or something. Check every connection point with soapy water before you go in, especially around the second stage housing where moisture can hide the bubbles.

That Tuesday when my email list grew by 800 people in 6 hours

Did that checklist really change how you see growth?

Got a tip from a guy at a flea market that changed my vintage watch collection

Kind of wild how the best advice comes from places you least expect it. Flea markets are weird like that because half the people are just trying to get rid of junk, but the other half genuinely know vintage stuff inside and out. Your Hamilton story reminds me of this old guy at a swap meet who told me to buy a dusty lamp just because the shade was unusual. It was a really rare art deco piece from the 1930s. That one listen made me never roll my eyes at those random tips again.
