But don't used coffee grounds actually become less acidic after brewing? In my experience, the brewing process washes out a lot of the acid, so they're closer to neutral than fresh grounds. @the_michael is right that acidity matters for plants, but it's the used grounds we often add to compost. For example, I've tested the pH of used grounds and found them around 6.5, which is pretty neutral for gardening.
