Just realized I wasted $300 on a thermal paste subscription box

I signed up for a monthly kit that sent different pastes and cleaning tools, thinking it would help me test what worked best. After six months and $300, I found that a basic $8 tube from the supply house performed just as well in every real repair I did. The fancy pastes made no difference for normal desktop and laptop fixes, maybe a degree or two at most. Has anyone else fallen for a tool or supply gimmick that turned out to be useless for daily work?

Why does everyone say you need a quiet morning to have a good day?

Honestly, I had my best moment of clarity last Tuesday in a packed Atlanta coffee shop at 7 AM. Everyone talks about needing silence, but the buzz of people actually helped me sort out a work problem I'd been stuck on for days. It was the noise, not the quiet, that made things click. Has anyone else had a good idea come from a loud, normal place instead of a quiet one?

Got called to a 'haunted' office building in Everett for flickering lights

The client was sure it was a ghost, but after an hour of checking, I found a squirrel had chewed through the main feed in the attic crawl space. The little guy was just sitting there on the junction box, staring at me like I was the intruder. I had to gently shoo it out with a piece of conduit before I could even start the repair. Just realized my bus driver has been watching out for me for months

I was running late this morning and missed my usual 7:15 bus. The driver on the next one, Frank, saw me and said, 'Figured you'd be on the 8:05 today. Your regular guy, Mike, told me to keep an eye out.' He explained Mike noticed my pattern and told the other drivers. It hit different because I never said a word to any of them. Has anyone else had a commute worker quietly look out for them like that?

Saw a regional airline's maintenance bay in Phoenix and the tool crib gave me a headache

Rant: A customer called me out for using a cheap torque wrench on his truck

He said 'you're gonna strip my lugs with that thing, I can hear it click from here.' It was a Harbor Freight model I'd had for years. Switched to a Snap-on digital torque wrench the next week, cost me $400. The difference in feel and accuracy is night and day. Anyone else get burned by a tool they thought was 'good enough'?
